Social service providers in Barbados are being encouraged to submit their information to the Ministry of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs (MPEA).

The MPEA is currently in the process of updating its Directory of Social Services for 2024 and is inviting all social service providers on the island to participate in this process. Interested organisations can upload relevant information about their services on the Directory website https://bb.socialservicesdirectory.com .

Providers will be required to upload the following information: contact information; background information; scope, vision, purpose and programmes; and requirements to access service(s).

The Ministry of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs is the primary Government social service agency, responsible for the provision of social assistance services to empower vulnerable individuals and families in Barbados.

In 2023, the MPEA launched an Electronic National Directory of Social Services. The Directory of Social Services is a tool, which is intended to improve public awareness of the various social assistance programmes available in Barbados and facilitate greater access to social services by the most vulnerable in our society.

This tailored Directory represents a comprehensive list of social services offered by the Government, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), Faith Based Organisations (FBOs), Community Organisation, and other relevant private entities or individuals.

The database is available online at https://bb.socialservicesdirectory.com .

For additional information, persons may contact the MPEA’s Hotline at 536-4673.
