Shaquille Griffith and Dana Brome, the 2021 Parish Ambassadors for St. Lucy, are this year’s Most Outstanding Ambassadors.
The duo were adjudged the Most Outstanding last Saturday at the annual Spirit of the Nation Show, hosted by the Ministry of Youth, Sports & Community Empowerment and the Community Independence Celebrations Secretariat (CICS).
Persons were able to tune in live from 8:00 p.m. via CBC TV 8 and several online platforms to see the Ambassadors showcase their parish; present their Parish Project, and portray their locally designed formal wear, as well as view the Parish Talent performances.
In second place for the Most Outstanding were Hewley Watson and Kadeesha Codrington from St. Andrew; in third place was Leah Bascombe and Mikhail King from St. George, and in fourth place was Jamaal Forde and Danielle Bishop-Small from St. John.
In addition to the award for Most Outstanding Ambassadors, the St. Lucy Parish Independence Committee (PIC) was also awarded Attendant of the Year – Pedro Cumberbatch; first place in the Public Speaking Presentation; second place for Parish Project of the Year, and the Entrepreneurial Award of the Year.
The St. Michael PIC received the inaugural Productivity Award, Best Formal Wear, first place for the Parish Project of the Year, and Daren Burke received third place for Attendant of the Year.
The St. Andrew PIC was awarded second place in the Public Speaking Presentation and in the Attendant of the Year category – Sherry Ann Carrington.
Additionally, the St. Peter Parish Independence Committee received third place for Parish Project of the Year, and St. George received third place in the Public Speaking Presentation.
For the Parish Talent segment, the Most Original and Most Impactful Awards went to Raquon Hinds of St. George and Akeem Chandler-Prescod of St. Michael, respectively.
The first place position for the Spirit of the Nation Award was presented to Akeem Chandler-Prescod; second place was awarded to Tarique Griffith of St. John, and Maya Sobers of St. Lucy was awarded third place.
