Members of the public are invited to apply and submit their performances for the upcoming Parish Talent Shows.
As a result of the on-going pandemic, these shows, which seek to unearth dormant performing talent from within the parishes, will be held virtually this year.
In order to participate, persons are required to record and submit an unedited video of their performance and any accompanying music.
Participant’s performance cannot be no more than three and a half minutes for their act. A penalty will be instituted for acts which run over the stipulated time.
All videos must be recorded in landscape mode at a minimum of 720p, against a plain background, with no zooming, panning, edits or effects of any kind. Any videos deemed inappropriate will be disqualified.
Entries are allowed from an array of disciplines: Drama, Poetry, Dance, Mime, Multimedia, Singing, Instrumental and any other unique forms of entertainment. However, performances must display an act of a distinctive Barbadian flavour and nationalistic focus.
While there are no age requirements for participation, persons, however, must reside in the parish they wish to represent. Additionally, past winners of the Parish Talent Segment of the Spirit of the Nation Show are not allowed to participate in these shows.
All individuals and groups who wish to participate must ensure that all COVID-19 protocols are followed.
Submissions must also be accompanied with the necessary application form, which may be obtained from the respective Parish Independence Committees or the Community Independence Celebrations Secretariat (CICS).
For a full list of guidelines, interested persons may contact the CICS via email at cics@barbados.gov.bb or telephone at 535-3835. The deadline for video submissions is Saturday, May 15.
