The Trust Loan Unit has embarked on its community-based training programme in the areas of entrepreneurial development and financial literacy.

The Unit has partnered with the Youth Development Programme of the Ministry of Youth and Community Empowerment, under this pilot.

Over the past two weeks, several residents of St. Lucy would have gathered at the annex room of the St. Lucy Parish Church and benefitted from training in four modules namely:  Management 101Financial LiteracyCustomer Service and Marketing.

The community-based programme is expected to be conducted throughout various communities, in the near future, as the Unit seeks to empower Barbadians and foster the “entrepreneurial mindset” within the society.

Additionally, it is the Unit’s objective to build the financial literacy of the average Barbadian, where individuals would be able to make sound financial and planning decisions.

Tomorrow, Friday, May 24, there will be a closing ceremony for the participants, who will also have the opportunity to showcase their products and services.

The event gets under way at 11.30 a.m.

Minister of Small Business, Entrepreneurship and Commerce, Dwight Sutherland, will deliver brief remarks on the initiative and there will also be a session on Personal Branding by business consultant, Lisa Gale.

The session will be streamed live on the Trust Loan Unit’s YouTube page – Trustloanbarbados.
