The Urban Development Commission (UDC) is commemorating its 13th anniversary this month by reaching out to ??persons in urban communities.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, August 24, it will stage a Community Outreach Programme, and present donations to two senior clients.

In addition, officers from the UDC will be stationed at the Bayville Community Centre, Pipers Avenue, Bayland, St. Michael from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m., to answer any queries from residents of the urban districts and to discuss the programmes which the Commission offers.

On Wednesday, August 25, the staff of UDC will continue their outreach hosting a Customer Appreciation Day from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Commission’s Roebuck Street office. ??It will feature photographic displays of Old and New Bridgetown, as well as houses and roads constructed by the UDC, entitled "Before and After". There will also be presentations by the tenantries, housing and roads sections of the Commission. In addition, representatives of the Barbados Nursing Association will be on hand to conduct diabetes, blood pressure and cholesterol checks, while the Barbados Cancer Society will conduct breast checks, for both males and females, from their Mobile Breast Screening Unit.

Staff of UDC will return to the community on Friday, August 27, for their Community Greening Day, where they will make presentations to two more urban customers. Additionally, with the assistance of the Sanitation Service Authority, the UDC will place 12 garbage bins at different locations in Bridgetown.

The theme for the UDC’s week of activities is "Urban Development Commission Committed to Improving Urban Barbados: Thirteen Years and Beyond".??sharifa.medford@barbados.gov.bb
