White Hill, St. Andrew. (Ministry of Transport Works & Water Resources)

The Scotland District Road Rehabilitation Project (SDRRP) is being carried out by the China National Complete Plant Import Export Corporation (COMPLANT).

The company is currently working on behalf of the Ministry of Transport Works & Water Resources (MTWW), in an effort to restore and reinforce a number of roads.

One such road is White Hill in St. Andrew. The restoration of this road is currently in progress and has now reached the phase of the installation of utilities.  The Barbados Water Authority (BWA) will be replacing the old mains while the National Petroleum Corporation (NPC) will begin installing natural gas lines in preparation for this new service to the area.

The work will be done in stages and commenced today, Wednesday, October 4.  The first stage, which starts on the western side of White Hill, will include trenching, and the laying of pipes, and is expected to be completed in one month (four weeks).

As a result, residents may experience intermittent water outages. The BWA will lend assistance when necessary.

The COMPLANT team looks forward to working together with the utility companies as they play an integral part in the rehabilitation of the roads in the Scotland District.
