The Ministry of the Environment and National Beautification, will celebrate its annual Blue Fest week from Sunday, October 30, until Saturday, November 5, under the theme: Telling Our Story.

The week will begin with a church service at the Revival Time Assembly, Maxwell, Christ Church, beginning at 8:00 a.m.

On Monday, October 31, the Blue Fest lecture entitled: The Blue Economy: Fisheries – Our Story, Our Heritage, Our Future, will come off at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Two Mile Hill, St. Michael. It will be delivered by acting Chief Fisheries Officer, Joyce Leslie, at 6:00 p.m.

The following day, Thursday, November 3, members of the public are invited to attend a free movie night at the Globe Drive-In, Adam’s Castle, Christ Church to watch In the Heart of the Sea beginning at 6:45 p.m.

However, entry to the Drive-In is by ticket only. Tickets may be collected from the Blue Economy Division of the Ministry of the Environment and National Beautification, Princess Alice Highway, Bridgetown; the Coastal Zone Management Unit (CZMU), 8th Floor, Warrens Tower II, Warrens, St. Michael and the Fisheries Division, Princess Alice Highway, Bridgetown.

A total of 320 tickets are available, and they will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, and one per vehicle.

The week will climax with a coastal sundown walk hosted by the CZMU on Saturday, November 5, from Consett Bay, St. John to Three Houses, St. Philip, starting at 3:00 p.m.

Buses will leave the Warrens Tower II, Warrens, St. Michael car park at 2:15 p.m. Tickets may be collected from the CZMU’s office from Monday, October 31, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Persons attending the walk are encouraged to wear long sleeves, comfortable shoes, loose clothing and bring water.
