The community programme, BajeFit, is back. The series, which runs for eight weeks, kicks off with a launch session on Monday, June 7, at the Ellerton Playing Field, St. George, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Thirty-one venues have been identified for this year’s programme, in all 11 parishes on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
All sessions are free and will be led by the qualified coaches of the National Sports Council (NSC), with guest instructors making an appearance at the launch and finale of the programme.
Director of the NSC, Neil Murrell, speaking on the upcoming third series of BajeFit, stated: “Community programmes, such as this, are critical in promoting healthy lifestyles and creating positive activity for people in communities across the island.”
In addition, Mr. Murrell noted that the high incidence of non-communicable diseases in Barbados, especially among young children, is worrisome, and if “we can get them to start moving and looking at making healthy lifestyle choices, that is a positive start.”
Registration forms for BajeFit are available online by clicking here, and from the offices of the NSC, Garfield Sobers Sports Complex, Wildey, St. Michael; the Youth Development Programme and any Youth Commissioners.
Participants are encouraged to follow all COVID-19 protocols, which will be enforced. For more information, persons may visit the National Sports Council’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
