Members of the public will get an opportunity to learn how to maintain a healthy lifestyle and support the co-operative movement at a pop-up health and variety fair on Friday, November 24, at “Saverne” Monteith Gardens, Barbarees Hill, St. Michael.

It will be hosted by the Diabetes and Hypertension Association of Barbados, in collaboration with the Co-operatives Department of the Ministry of Energy and Business, in celebration of National Awareness Diabetes Month.

There will be several health-based non-governmental organisations participating in the fair, which will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Those organisations include the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Barbados; Network Counselling Services; the Barbados Family Planning Association; the Barbados Kidney Association; the Barbados Diabetes Foundation; and the Hope Foundation. Blood pressure testing and screening will be done throughout the day.

Several co-operatives, including Women Entrepreneurs and Pinnacle, will display their products, namely, jewellery, and other accessories, custom-made bags, craft items and a variety of clothing.

Representative of Pan-American International Insurance Corporation, Sylvia Yearwood, will share information on life insurance, personal accident, comprehensive major medical, dental and vision coverage.

Healthy vegetarian food samples prepared by Pinnacle Co-operative Society Limited will be on offer, along with product sampling of health drinks. Other refreshments will be on sale. Co-op Resident DJ Sweet Tunes Entertainment will be present at the fair.
